Gift Ideas Under $10

1) Stickers

Average Price: $5-10

I don’t collect many things but stickers (and admittedly books) are an exception. In fact there is something about stickers that seem to just attract divers. On the outside of water bottles, camera cases, laptops and suitcases you’re bound to find someone who is a bit of a collector.

Most of the time these stickers will come from free(ish) sources like gear purchases or cause promotions. So why not opt for a cheap, personal and fun gift and get them some stickers they will love to look at.

Companies like CapeClasp do some well designed sticker packs and even the Girls that Scuba store have some fun sticker collections.

2) Deep Tea Diver

Average Price: $4-12

A little unconventional and definitely a bit more of a tricky match for some people. This handsome little deep tea diver is a fun way for your (very possibly English) tea drinking diver friends to enjoy their brew.

Theres not much more I can really say about it that you can’t see for yourself but it would definitely put a smile on your giftees face to see how cleverly you have brought their adventurous hobbies into everyday life.

3) Fish Id Slates & Books

Average Price: $4-26

Got a giftee who is a nature lover and scuba diver? Then go for the obvious choice! Fish Id slates are made so that divers can better identify the marine life they see underwater whilst they’re under the water! I know, sounds a little crazy.

These water proof cards are a perfect little gift of knowledge and great for those who are looking into specialties like naturalist or even just advanced open water.

Complete the gift with a little more informative fish Id book which will be able to tell them all the weird and wonderful facts they can’t read about with all their gear on.

4) Scuba Books

Average Price: $6-13

So you may already know about my little addiction to literature and there are plenty of awesome books for ocean lovers in my library. In my opinion it is a gift, that if you get right, will just keep on giving.

Luckily enough I have compounded all I know about scuba related books in a handy post. So you can check out some ideas for the diving book lover in your life.

5) Waterproof Playing Cards

Average Price: $8-16

Get your giftee something to entertain them when they can’t be diving and get them a pack of waterproof playing cards. This travel friendly and diver friendly game will make surface intervals between diving fly by. The nice thing is you don’t even need to be a diver to get the benefit from them.

6) Biodigradable Toiletries

Of course, what is a gift guide if it doesn’t include toiletries. But hear me out! If you haven’t heard yet there is a revolution coming to our bathrooms with new exciting and importantly sustainable inventions replacing the old conventional bath bombs, body scrubs and beauty sets of old. Were all keen for green and none more so than your average diver.

In case you were wondering what this means? It means:

Not only will they thank you but the environment will too.

7) Waterproof Phone Case

Average Price: $9

Another little gift where you can add the all important finishing touches. After all nothing ruins electrical equipment like water. Trust me all it takes is a cracked screen and a wet finger to finish off a phone.

The solution? Pretty simple really, a waterproof phone case. There are two main routes you can go with this. Either a phone case which also boasts waterproof features or a waterproof phone pouch.

All you need to know is the type of phone your giftee has and you’re away. So help your special someone protect their music, memories and personal information with a useful little gift.

8) Portable Luggage Scale

Average Price: $9

You have never had to struggle so much as the first time travelling with all your scuba gear. We spend so much money to have everything you need and then some. A key to stress free packing? A portable luggage scale.

These little suckers literally weigh nothing and take up no space. yet they can make the difference between a huge surprise bill at the airport and a smooth and easy check in. I challenge you to name a more practical gift.

9) O-ring Keychain

Average Price: $10

Arguably the most important and simple piece of scuba gear. The humble o-ring. We definitely couldn’t dive without it so make sure you don’t let the scuba diver in your life go without it.

These cute and fairly cheap mini scuba cylinder o-ring key chains are perfect for it. With a built in o-ring pick and storage you could make the difference between an incredible day in the water or a miserable one on land.

10) Something Sharky Wine Glass

Average Price: $10

Let your diving pals have a taste of their favourite sport and spot a shark while they’re at it. I saw these sharky wine glasses out there a while ago and just looking at it made me smile.

Gift Ideas Under $20

11) Shark Bottle Opener (& neoprene goodies)

Average Price: $13

Do I need to explain? Just look at it! Bring an extra wide smile to your giftees face the next time they crack open that cold one with a shark bottle opener.

If that’s still not enough then you could always up your game with a neoprene beer cozy or while were at it go all out with a neoprene 6 pack carry case.

12) Bandana / Buff

Average Price: $13

Not the most unique or funny gift, unless you go for a funky design. But trust me when I say that every diver would love one.

Its adaptability as a hat, buff, hair accessory and sleep mask make it perfect for the world of scuba diving. Whether it’s to keep the sun of your skin, head warm after a dive or hair out of your face under the water then a buff is the answer.

The best thing? You can get all sorts of marine inspired  buffs from Girls That Scuba.

13) Mouldable Mouthpiece

Average Price: $13-20

Simple and yet oh so effective. When you need to have a regulator in your mouth for hours, comfort is key. For many people it can make or break a dive, so why not make it for them and buy them a mouldable mouthpiece. The great thing is they don’t even need to own their own regulator to use it!

14) Waterproof Seat Cover

Average Price: $16

If you know a diver who likes to change in their car then a waterproof seat cover may be a good way to go in terms of gifts. I have to admit it’s not the most glitzy or glam but trust me you will be thanked. This practical gift idea will come in more than a little useful on more than one occasion.

15) Mask Strap Cover

Average Price: $16

In for a little more colour and coordination? So we already talked about name tags and bringing a little more colour to a scuba wardrobe but the best thing is, that’s not all! There are a lot of bright and fun mask straps and covers out there to complete the look.

Not only do they look good but they are also super practical. Stopping your hair from tangling in the rubber straps and more importantly helps other divers recognise them underwater.

You could go for a joke, a bright pattern or even something more personal. Take these GTS straps for example. Not only will they look cool but could be a talking point for divers to get to know one another.

16) Gear Name Labels/Tags

Average Price: $17

Next up is a close and similar second and that is gear name labels. Think about it, your giftee has probably shelled out thousands for dive gear. Why not add the final touch and make sure they don’t loose it. An added bonus is that gear labels are very customisable and can add a bit of personality (and colour coordination) into a gear set. Embroidered BCD tags are also a creative way to personalise gear and get to know other divers.

If they have the creative touch then you could even just get them gear marker paint and let them do the rest.

17) Neoprene Fin Socks

Average Price: $19

If you have never worn full foot fins then you will never know how uncomfortable your feet can get after a long time wearing them. There is a easy and relatively cheap solution though, neoprene fin socks. Plain black will do the trick if your only in it for the comfort however Esty have a few more funky wetsuit socks for those looking for some personalisation.

Gift Ideas Under $60

18) Wetsuit Hangar

Average Price: $24

Wetsuits (like pretty much every piece of gear) don’t come cheap. They get dragged from place to place, dunked, dived and all sorts of other things along the way. But nothing ruins a wetsuit faster than storing it the wrong way. Hanging it from its shoulders from a thin hangar does exactly that.

Luckily you can buy special folding wetsuit hangars that prevent this from happening. A bit more bulky and with more hooks than a regular one, wetsuit hangars will help protect that special investment your giftee has made in their diving life.

19) Personalised Log Book

Average Price: $24

If you’re not quite sure what this is then it is basically a diary for scuba divers. Log books let you track your dives, where you did them and any special sights you saw. Their main function is to provide evidence of your experience level but many people also keep them as a personal reminder of their dives.

So if you have a friend that logs their dives the old fashioned way then take a look at some personalised log books from diveproof.com or even just a good quality one.

20) Scuba Clothing

Average Price: $26

Simple yet effective. What could be more useful than a piece of clothing which helps someone show their scuba diver pride.

There are a range of companies out there offering up their fashionable and/or funny designs but our favourites are the Girls That Scuba T’s.

The awesome thing is although it is a diving related gift they can be used anytime, anywhere. You could even go one step further with a dive inspired tie for work as well! What better way to show your passion than by wearing it.

21) Regulator Bag

Average Price: $27

So I have to admit, I did steal this idea from someone else who it worked very well for. But regulator cases are normally so boring to look at! I mean if that’s all your going for then fair enough there are some good quality brands out there.

However for those who want a bit more personalisation and fun to their gear bag with the added benefit of precious regulator protection then a reg bag like this is the way to go.

22) Dive Equipment

Well we took our sweet time getting here but we finally made it to the most obvious gift you could give a diver, scuba equipment. It’s true that this can be a very personal and tricky gift to get right but when you do, trust me, it will be worth it. So without further ado, here are a few ideas just for your scuba enthusiast.

Dive Torch

Want a gift that is useful as well as fun? The a dive torch is the perfect idea for beginners to pros. Not only will it open up the opportunity of killer night dives but is also handy for critter spotting, peeking into hiding holes and generally bringing some colour back into the  deep. Average Price: $65

Dive Computer

As one of the priciest yet easiest equipment to give, dive computers make the perfect gift for someone you want to spend a little more on. Although there are a few different options to consider it is generally a gift that will be appreciated no matter what you go for. It is a particularly great idea for beginner divers who want to invest in their diving and more importantly their safety as a computer is the one piece of equipment that truly needs to be personal.

Prices start at around 300 GBP for basic models but if you want something a little prettier or even technical then you will be looking at a little more. As there are so many different options we suggest taking a look at some of the best dive computers out there to see which one would suit your loved one best. Average Price: $400-1300

Wet Notes / Slates

Another useful and yet not so obvious gift idea are wet notes or wipeable slates. It is a well known fact that most divers have no way to communicate underwater other than basic hand signals however there is another way! Dive slates are a simple invention which basically consists of a plastic slate and pencil which divers can use to communicate with. Wet notes are essentially the same idea just with more pages like a note book. Handy if you have a chatty Kathy in your group or someone who likes to collect information on their dives. Average Price: $40

We could carry on detailing every piece of gear in a divers bag but I think you get the idea by now. However if you are interested in more equipment gift ideas then take a look at our beginners guide to scuba gear for more ideas.

23) Waterproof Bag

Average Price: $40-200

It’s pretty obvious that divers love to be in the water but that doesn’t mean we want everything to constantly get wet. A waterproof bag to hold all your loved ones gadgets and gizmos is a prefect way to show you care.

My absolute favourite is the Wandrd Prvke as it is so adaptable for every kind of travel and even camera gear. But if you’ve checked it out then there are a whole range of waterproof packs on the market for you to try. If this option is too far out of your price range then there is always the option of using dry bags to waterproof any bags they already own.

24) Jewellery

So admittedly this may not be the ideal gift for everyone but as it is a gift list there should be a little bling in here somewhere. There are lots of stores out there that make a range of scuba related Jewellery from the fancy to the fantastical. However we definitely have some clear favourites when it comes down to it.

CapeClasp are the first people I started following along with after I was gifted a little dolphin necklace for my first Christmas with Magnus. Their designs are clever and simple with the main pendant (normally a marine animal of some kind) acting as the clasp as well. Now they also offer a small collection of other jewellery with unique marine inspired rings. The best bit is that each piece is partnered with a marine life organisation which receives 15% of every item sold.

Average Price: $40

As part of the Girls that Scuba store there is also a small jewellery collection. Each piece is a dainty reminder of the ocean and made out of sterling silver so you don’t ever have to take it off. That is if you don’t want to.

Average Price: $67

To avoid overwhelming you then I will leave you with one last idea  and that is to go and support the small, home crafted sellers out there. Etsy host a huge range of people making all sorts of marine inspired jewellery.

From pendants made from invasive lionsish fin to sterling silver there are so many creative sellers out there.

25) Waterproof Speaker

Average Price: $50-150

Do you know someone who loves their tunes but docent love getting their precious speaker wet? Well let them bring the party to the beach, boat and everywhere in between with a waterproof speaker. Simple, versatile and loads of fun. Not only will this gift benefit the one you love but everyone gets to enjoy it.

So if you want to give the gift of bonding over some bonfire beach tunes or celebrating an amazing dive then check out some of the best waterproof speakers out there or why not go full hog and get a solar powered speaker as well.

26) Changing Towel Robe

Average Price: $53

Why would anyone want a normal towel when you can have a towel dress! These ingeniously simple inventions are a fun and super useful twist on a classic travel towel. Allowing divers to change into and out of their wet gear without all the hassle

27) Skin Suits/ Rash Guards/ Marine Leggings

Average Price: $60-160

So you want to get your special someone something special but scuba gear is just a little too expensive? Well there is a slightly cheaper and more personal option, skin suits and rash guards!

These thin layers of clothing are made from the same stretchy material as swimsuits. They protect from stings and abrasions in warm water diving; add an extra layer of insulation and make slipping on a wetsuit a little easier.

Standard scuba brands like Aqualung make simple and colourful designs suitable for every kind of diver. However if you want something more fashionable and maybe marine inspired then companies like Waterlust, Slipins and Aurora all offer their own unique take on marine attire.

Gift Ideas Over $60

28) Underwater Metal Detector

Average Price: $60-660

In for a little more obscure one now but it does sound pretty cool and that is an underwater metal detector. If your giftee maybe fancies themselves a bit of a treasure hunter and is desperate for some buried gold then this gift would be perfect for them. It also makes a useful present for all kinds of scavengers or even just those with a curious mind.

Admittedly I don’t own one myself so can’t give my own recommendation however DiveIn have made a very informative post on the best underwater metal detectors.

Average price varies a little ranging from around 60 USD for a small lightweight model like Dr Ötek Pinpointer for to around 660 USD for the fancier models.

29) Pandora Tool

Average Price: $67

Before you jump to it, no were not talking about the bracelet. This nifty little Pandora tool is slim enough to slip inside your wallet and yet could mean the difference between making a dive or not. So save someone some hassle (and a heavy tool kit) and slip it onto your shopping list.

29) Underwater Camera

Ok, yes. Not the cheapest gift but a camera is definitely one that be used for so many things in the water and out. I mean what better gift is there really than memories?

GoPros are the standard when it comes to adventure cameras and make the perfect small travel accessory. However they can also easily be adapted for underwater use with a red light filter and wrist strap or float handle. They also make the perfect gift for beginner divers and travel addicts.

However if you are looking for a higher level gift then there are plenty of underwater cameras made specifically for this purpose. Our most popular choices are the Olympus T6 which is a great shallow water camera to get into underwater photography or the Paralenz (although quite pricey) for hands free, technical diving.

Now if these options still don’t appeal to you then there is also the option to skip buying the camera all together and just buy housing. Housing is a protective case which can be found for many different camera brands or even phones! The Kraken is exactly this and allows you to bring your phone as your very own underwater camera. If you’re not sure if this is for you then World Adventure Divers have done a really informative piece on diving with your phone.

The last option and a slightly cheaper one if your special someone already has a camera is to get them some accessories for better handling. Camera handles or go pro stabilisers are a great choice as they help divers to steady the camera whilst still being able to concentrate on their buoyancy. Another option is camera lighting which help bring the colours and focus back into underwater photos.

30) Diving Courses

A gift that your special someone will never get rid of and will never want to. Investing in a dive course can be one of the most memorable and helpful gifts possible to give. Whether its their first introduction to the underwater world with a discovery dive or open water course, which is truly a once in a lifetime experience, to their next level certification or specialty.

31) Dive Trip

Hurahh!! You reached the end. The good news? This is one of the best, most memorable, fun gifts you can give another person and the best news? You have someone in your life you love enough to spend a huge chunk of cash on. The bad news? Well as I just pointed out it is rather expensive.

There are a variety of destination choices to choose from but the easiest option to organise is a diving liveaboard. Lots of companies also offer fairly inclusive holidays if you want an easy booking or book your own if your up for the challenge. Then surprise them on the big  day and you will have the definition of jumping for joy.

Hopefully you have struck gold with the gift ideas from this list but if you are still struggling then don’t hesitate to get in touch either by email or in the comments below.
